THE STORY:

I moved to the South of France to live and paint next to the Mediterranean. This is the first painting in this new chapter. I packed up the baby and drove to Nice to a beautiful old Artist's supply store. I was greeted by the polite and cheerful owner and we picked out the most beautiful fabric and his handmade solid wood frame in the biggest size he makes and he gave me a lesson in how to put it together. He and his shop Assistant even gifted the baby a beautiful marbled colored pencil and me a little paint pallets before we left. On a beautiful late summer day I began to paint my first painting in France. Over the next several weeks it continued to evolve and ended up a completely different color palette than I had planned for it to be. The baby's marks, painted in the moments that I directed my attention elsewhere, turned out to be pivotal. What a fun way to create!
